Wike Places N20m Bounty on Wanted Kidnap Kingpins in Abuja

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, has taken a step in the fight against crime by placing a N20 million bounty on two suspected terrorists responsible for a series of heinous acts, including the attack and kidnapping of two defence staff at an Army Estate in Abuja.

The suspects, Dahiru Adamu and Abu Ibrahim, both from Niger State and known as cattle rearers, have also been linked to the killing of a district head in Abuja and other kidnappings in Kabusa, Kutu, and other villages within the FCT.

In response to the escalating criminal activities, Wike charged the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ben Igweh, to go all out against the criminals, emphasising that since the criminals have refused to allow Abuja citizens to sleep, they will not sleep either.

The minister’s announcement comes in the wake of recent successes in the fight against criminality in the nation’s capital.

The FCT Police Command, under the leadership of CP Ben Igweh, has made significant strides in apprehending notorious armed robbery suspects and kidnappers.

In one instance, eight notorious armed robbery suspects were arrested, while in another operation, seven suspects linked to the kidnapping of 14 notable persons in the Federal Capital Territory were apprehended.

“The arrested suspects confessed to using toy guns and knives to scare their victims and illegally obtain from them. Exhibits recovered from the kidnappers included N9 million, six AK47 rifles, bulletproof vests, and a locally fabricated walkie-talkie,” CP Igweh disclosed.
