Transportation Varsity Enlisted for TETFund Support – Minister

 

The Minister of Transportation, Sen. Said Alkali, has announced that the University of Transportation, Daura, has been enlisted and incorporated amongst tertiary institutions qualified for next year’s Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

In a statement Signed by the Acting Director, Press and Public Relations,

Muhammad Tahir Zakari, which was

made available to Africa Health Report on Friday, stated that Sen. Alkali made the announcement during his visit to the university, emphasised the importance of sustaining existing contracts and ensuring the growth of the Ministry of Transportation.

“We have approached TETFund. The university had made all the checklists of the TETFund, so we will be enlisted against next year so that we have more infrastructure for the university to grow,” Alkali disclosed.

He also revealed that the university was not included in the Federal Government’s 2023 appropriation, but President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved for the institution to be enlisted in the 2024 appropriation.

Alkali expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, and TETFund for their collaboration in achieving considerable progress for the university.

The Minister also acknowledged the role of the National Universities Commission in appointing Ahmadu Bello University as a mentor university to enable the University of Transportation, Daura, to commence with admissions for the 2023-2024 academic year. Stating, “We have more infrastructure for the university to grow,” Alkali said, expressing his belief that the university would attain the lofty expectations for which it was established in no distant time.
