Tinubu Meets Bill Gates Highlights Role of Technology in Anti-Corruption Efforts

President Bola Tinubu engaged in discussions with Microsoft Founder and Philanthropist, Bill Gates, at the World Economic Forum Special Meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on the pivotal role of technology in Nigeria’s governance.

During their meeting, President Tinubu highlighted five key points:

  1. Technology as Anti-Corruption Tool:

Tinubu emphasized technology’s potential to combat corruption, stating it as a potent weapon against fraud and irregularities in public service.

  1. Investment in Transparent Technology:

The President assured Gates of his administration’s substantial investment in technology, particularly to enhance transparency and accountability in government operations, aiming to accelerate public-sector performance and service delivery.

  1. Support for New Government Interventions:

Tinubu underscored the reliability of improved technology to support various government initiatives, including a national consumer credit system, for the benefit of all Nigerians.

  1. Long-Term Benefits of Technology Investment:

Despite initial resistance, Tinubu expressed confidence that Nigeria would reap significant benefits from technological investments, ultimately fulfilling the promises made to citizens.
