Nigeria Police Withdraw Officers Attached to Yahaya Bello Amidst EFCC Investigation over Money Laundering Allegation

The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has issued a directive to withdraw all police officers assigned to the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

This move comes amidst an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into allegations of money laundering amounting to N80.2 billion against Bello.

This information was disclosed in a police wireless message with the reference number “CB:4001/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.48/34,” and was obtained by African health report, on Friday.

“Please acknowledge and treat with the highest importance. This is for your reference and is to be strictly followed,Egbetokun added

Africa Health Report notes that this came hours after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission declared Bello wanted in connection to an alleged case of money laundering to the tune of N80.2bn.The EFCC declared Bello wanted on its official Facebook page after failed attempts to arrest him on Wednesday in Abuja.
