Kyari:Bridging Energy Access Gap for Economic Prosperity,Important

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Mr. Mele Kyari, highlighted the critical importance of bridging the energy access gap to the creation of economic prosperity in Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2024 edition of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (SPE OLEF) on Thursday in Abuja, Kyari emphasised the company’s commitment to developing gas infrastructure across the country to drive prosperity for Nigerians.
“We are committed to developing gas infrastructure across the country,” Kyari stated, underscoring the company’s dedication to investing in critical infrastructure to enhance economic prosperity by supplying gas to the domestic market.
Kyari also outlined the infrastructural projects being undertaken by NNPC Ltd, including the Obiafu/Obrikom/Oben (OB3) and Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipelines, designed to enhance the nation’s gas supply network.
He also discussed the company’s efforts to expand gas supply to the international market through projects such as the NLNG Train 7 and the floating LNG initiatives.
Engr. Salahuddeen Tahir, Chairperson of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, emphasised the critical role of energy in modern society, calling for the development of a diversified and sustainable energy transportation system to mitigate climate change and enhance energy security.
The 24th edition of the SPE OLEF is focused on contributing to Nigeria’s oil and gas industry policy development, commemorating the first commercial oil discovery in Nigeria at Oloibiri in 1956. The forum serves as a platform for industry leaders to address key issues and drive progress in the energy sector.
