ICPC, CoDA Strengthen Partnership to Combat Illicit Financial Flow

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA) have renewed their cooperation agreement in an effort to combat illicit financial flows (IFFs) and advance asset recovery initiatives in the country.

Chairman of the ICPC, Musa Adamu Aliyu reaffirmed the commitment to combat IFFs, emphasizing the need for collective action to eradicate this menace from Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

According to an official statement by ICPC, the agreement between ICPC and CoDA, initiated in January 2022, focuses on implementing the Common African Position on Asset Recovery (CAPAR) and reversing illicit financial flows.

The Executive Director of CoDA, Souad Aden-Osman, highlighted Nigeria’s pivotal role in the African Union’s efforts against IFFs and urged continued support from the country and ICPC.

The ongoing assessment by the African Union on national responses to IFFs aims to strengthen capacities of member-states to combat these flows and mobilize domestic revenues.

ICPC remains dedicated to its role in the Working Group on implementing recommendations of the AU High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows, underscoring its commitment to the fight against corruption and financial crimes.
