Despite the economic challenges in the country reducing a huge percentage of Nigeria’s population to penury,  Seyi, President Tinubu’s son was reportedly seen wearing a wristwatch worth N346 million. Reacting to this, human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore criticized the Tinubu-led Federal government for what he called “stark inequality”. Sowore who spoke against the backdrop of a disclosure by a serving minister about the level of poverty and hunger confronting Nigerians, criticized the Nigerian government for the unequal distribution of wealth among its people.

The Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, in a recent interview with a national TV revealed that just about 5% of the population in Nigeria have bank account balances exceeding N500,000.

Edun emphasized that the government’s reforms aim to address economic disparities that have favored a small elite group while neglecting the majority of citizens in the past eight years.

Responding to the minister’s report, Sowore pointed out on his social media account that while a small percentage of Nigerians have more than N500,000 in their bank accounts, Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, owns a wristwatch worth N346 million.

He emphasised that the concept of “justice for all” falls short for Nigerians struggling with high costs of living and hardships in the country. Citing a statement from the finance minister, Sowore highlighted the disparity in wealth distribution in Nigeria.
