NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos have seized a significant amount of Loud, a potent synthetic cannabis strain.

The drug was hidden inside large speakers within a cargo shipment from New York, USA, as reported by NDLEA’s Media and Advocacy director, Femi Babafemi, in Abuja on Sunday.

Officials from the NDLEA confiscated many wooden crates pretending to be speakers at the cargo area of Lagos airport. Inside the crates, officers found 60 bags of the banned substance Loud, weighing 33.5 kilograms.

Three persons, including a freight agent, a logistics company manager, and the recipient of the shipment, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Giving further details, Babafemi said, On Thursday, February 15, and Friday, February 16, they were apprehended in subsequent operations.

“Afeez was detained at the airport, while Ayodeji was captured at his workplace on Allen Avenue Ikeja. He mentioned that Taiwo was located at his home on 13 Ayo Babatunde Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, and taken into custody on Friday, February 16.”

Babafemi added that the NDLEA chairman, Buba Marwa, commended the officers and personnel at MMIA for their achievements in the previous week.

He also applauded the officers in all commands nationwide for their increased efforts in WADA advocacy lectures, striking a good balance between reducing drug supply and curbing drug demand.
