Tinubu Appoints Ex-Lagos Health Commissioner Idris as NCDC Boss, Retains NAFDAC DG Adeyeye , Others

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday announced the appointment and reappointment of key figures within the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

These changes according to the official statement signed by the president’s special adviser on media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, aim to align Nigeria’s healthcare system with international best practices, enhance the standard of public health administration, and ensure the delivery of affordable and quality healthcare to all Nigerians.

The newly appointed and reappointed Board Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers include Dr. Mansur Kabir as the Board Chairperson of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) while re-appointing Prof. Moji Adeyeye as the Chief Executive Officer.

 The president also appointed Prof. Abba Zubairu as the Board Chairperson of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) and Dr. Saleh Yuguda as its Chief Executive Officer.

Prof. Afolabi Lesi was appointed as the new Chairperson of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with Dr. Fatima Kyari appointed as the Chief Executive Officer

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has a new Board Chairperson in the person of Pharm. Wasilat Giwa while its Chief Executive Officer, Pharm. Ibrahim Ahmed was reappointed.

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria’s (MLSCN) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tosan Erhabor was also reappointed. The council however got a new Board Chairperson, Dr. Babajide Salako

Prof. Adamu G. Bakari was appointed as the Chief Medical Director / CEO of Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola (MAUTH).

Also, Prof. Reuben Eifediyi becomes the new Chief Medical Director/CEO of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua (ISTH), Edo state.

Additionally, President Tinubu has also appointed Dr. Olajide Idris as the new Chief Executive Officer for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The President’s statement expresses hope that these leadership changes will elevate the standards of healthcare service delivery across Nigeria, benefiting all segments of the population.
