The Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) last Friday sought partnership with media organisations in order to create awareness to the general public to register with the agency towards having subsidised hospital bill.

Acting Executive Secretary of the NASHIA, Dr. Simon Istifanu, sought for the partnership during a one-day training workshop for media practitioners organised by the agency in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital. 

He said partnership with the media has become imperative considering the significant role the media play in the society. 

Istifanu also informed that the agency had enrolled 188,300 people in the state; adding that the numbers of enrollees were increasing on a daily basis. 

According to the acting executive secretary, “the objective of this training is to sensitise and create awareness amongst Nasarawa Health Insurance Agency”.

Also speaking at the workshop, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Health, Dr. Janet Angbazo, lauded the media’s efforts on sensitising the public about activities of the NASHIA.

She, however, advised journalists to aways cross check their facts and be accurate on their report before going to the press.

According to her, “we gathered you here to inform you about the overview activities of the agency and share what we have done and the progress we have made. Our challenges that we have addressed and the one we are still battling with, and also partner with you to achieve our Universal Healthcare Coverage.”

She continued that the agency wanted to form a formidable partnership with the media in order to achieve its goals.

Angbazo concluded that 227 Healthcare Providers have been engaged to render services to their clients, media organizations on the activities and progress made by the agency.
