The Kano head of civil service, Usman Muhammad, has appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress to relax areas of essential services during its two-day warning strike.

This is contained in a statement by its spokeswoman, Bintu Yakasai, on Tuesday.

Mr Muhammad made the call at a meeting with the leadership of the entire labour force in the state held at the conference hall of the office of the head of civil service.

Mr Muhammad promised the union that all its requests would be forwarded to Governor Abba Yusuf for necessary action. He thanked the labour leadership for cooperating with his office and relaxing in some areas of water provision, health services and fire service, a commitment well acknowledged by the governor.

NLC chair in Kano, Kabiru Inuwa, commended Mr Yusuf’s commitment to civil servants and pensioners and ensuring the well-being of the state’s workforce and residents.
