COVID-19: FG Fully Vaccinates Over 68m Eligible Persons

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has disclosed that as at February 27, 2023, a total of sixty eight million, six hundred and nighty nine thousand, one hundred and twenty eight (68,699,128) out of the targeted eligible  persons from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  have fully collected their COVID-19 vaccine.

In an update in its twitter handle, the NPHCDA further disclosed that eleven million seven hundred and ninety three thousand, five hundred and sixty four (11,793,564) out of the targeted eligible persons have been vaccinated partially.

The breakdown of the COVID-19 vaccination taken by eligible person across the 35 states and the FCT indicates that Kano State has the highest number of the fully vaccinated persons totaling eight million, one hundred and seventy three thousand six hundred and sixty six (8,173,656) while Kaduna State came second with seven million sixty four thousand, three hundred and seventy two (7,064,372).

On the other hand,   Jigawa State recorded five million, twenty nine thousand, three hundred and seventy two (5,029,372)  while Osun recorded three million, four hundred and sixty seven thousand, eight hundred and eight eligible persons who have been fully vaccinated.

The record however, shows that Ebonyi State has the least number of people who have been fully vaccinated totaling two hundred and sixty eight thousand, three hundred and forty three (268,343).

The update further shows that Kano State has the highest number of the persons who have taken their COVID-19 booster dose rising up to one million, seven hundred and thirty six thousand, six hundred and twenty six.

The records indicates that Sokoto State has the least number of the persons who have taken their COVID-19 booster dose with eight hundred and four persons followed by Ebonyi State which has 3, 763 persons.

It would be recalled that in July last year, Nigeria missed the 70 per cent mid-year COVID-19 vaccination target set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
