The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned against taking four cough syrups made from India.

The syrups, according to the BBC, could be linked to the deaths of 66 children in The Gambia.

The products were reportedly manufactured by an Indian company, Maiden Pharmaceuticals.

WHO stated that the company had failed to provide guarantees about the safety of patients who might have taken it.

‘’The syrups have been potentially linked with acute kidney injuries and 66 deaths among children”, BBC quoted WHO to have said.

BBC said the firm was yet to comment when its reporters contacted Maiden Pharmaceuticals for comment.
