Lambusssie, (UWR), July 31, GNA – The SNV Netherlands Development, under its Healthy Future for All (HF4A)” Project, has targeted to provide basic amenities to some selected communities in the Lambussie District and Nandom Municipality in the Upper West Region.
They would provide 4,000 home sanitation facilities and 1,000 places of convenience with water accessibility to schools in the selected districts.
As part of its hygiene promotion and sanitation campaigns, the project would construct 10 solar-powered mechanised water systems each in Nandom Municipality and Lambussie District in healthcare facilities, schools and community levels by improving on existing source boreholes.
Mr Thomas Ntori of the HF4A WASH Team announced the details of the project at its launch, at Lambussie.
He said the construction of 50 hand wash facilities each would be provided at health facilities in Nandom Municipality and Lambussie District.
Mr Ntori said the project would increase the capacity to develop, deliver and maintain improved service levels and behaviour changes leading to enhanced quality of life and health among the people.
It is also expected that locally owned WASH solutions, which were equally applicable in the surrounding districts and the sector institutions experienced the impacts of the partnership.
Mr Ntori said members of the district inter-agency coordinating committee on sanitation, involving women groups, female-headed households, water and sanitation management teams, persons with disability and latrine artisans and area mechanics, had been engaged in the project.
