Access Bank has announced a review of its operational hours in about 83 branches nationwide.

In notice to its customers on Sunday, the bank said it adjusted its closing time backwards to 3pm.

While the bank did not offer any reason for the time adjustment, The Abuja Inquirer learnt that it was due to operational cost.

Nigerians have had to endure rising cost of diesel as electricity supply remains epileptic in the country.

In May, Credit rating agency, Fitch Ratings, noted that, “Soaring inflation led the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to raise its benchmark rate by 150bp on 24 May, and the pressures on banks’ profitability and asset quality will be higher than we had initially expected for 2022. However, the sharp rise in oil prices this year will mitigate the economic impact from the global risks, and we do not expect Nigeria’s banking sector to experience a material shock.”

The Access Bank notice shows that 10 of its branches are affected. The branches are; Adetokunbo Ademola, Garki Area 11, Wuse 2 Branch, Garki, Central Business Area and Nyanya Shopping Complex.

Others are 1st Avenue Gwarinpa, Specialist Hospital Road, Gwagwalada, Herbert

Macauley Way Zone 4, and Savannah Suites in Area 3.
