The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted sunny and hazy conditions in Nigeria from Saturday to Monday.

NiMet’s weather outlook made the announcement in a release in Abuja.

The agency predicts a clear and hazy atmosphere in the northern region during the forecast period.

Over the North Central and South inland areas, moderate dust haze with a visibility range of 2km to 5km is expected.

NiMet predicted that the coastal area would have misty mornings and fog, with some clouds and a hazy atmosphere in the forecast period.

They also expected some thunderstorms in isolated areas of Rivers and Bayelsa states in the afternoon and evening. As for Sunday, they predicted clear skies and a hazy atmosphere in the northern region for the entire forecast period.

The North Central region will have a slight dust haze for the entire forecast period. The Inland States will experience a hazy atmosphere with a few clouds, and there is a chance of isolated thunderstorms in certain areas during the afternoon and evening.

The coastal belt will have early morning mist and fog patches, but for the rest of the forecast period, there will be a hazy atmosphere with a few clouds.

There is a small chance of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Rivers, Lagos, and Bayelsa states.

According to the agency, the northern region will experience a sunny and hazy atmosphere on Monday and for the rest of the forecast period. The coastal areas, on the other hand, will have mist and fog patches in the morning, with partly cloudy skies and a hazy atmosphere prevailing throughout the forecast period.

The inland areas of the south and the coast will have patches of cloud in a hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period. NiMet also expected mist and fog patches in the morning over the coastal parts of the country.

There is a possibility of isolated thunderstorms occurring in some parts of Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta states in the afternoon and evening hours, NiMet stated.

There is also a suspension of dust particles, so it is recommended to wear a face mask whenever possible. People with respiratory issues are advised to be cautious of the current weather conditions.

It is advisable for children and the elderly to wear warm clothing at night.

Additionally, it is important to pay special attention to the skin, eyes, and lips, and to moisturize them as much as possible.
